Over the course of the last quarter, representatives of several institutions have closely followed the PDIS’s challenges and main achievements.

The theologian, university professor and writer Leonardo Boff visited the Southern Bahia Lowlands and got a first-hand look at the PDIS’s initiatives. The program has also welcomed members of ETH Bioenergy – Luiz Pereira, Andressa Saurin, Carla Pires and Brother Phillip, who arrived with the same goal. The region also received a visit from a committee of officers from the 6th Military Region (RM) of the Brazilian Army, including the Commander of the 6th RM, General João Francisco Ferreira, Gen. Luiz Henrique Moura Barreto (Ret.), and the Chief of Staff of the 6th RM, Col. Nilson Paulo Pereira Joau e Silva, among others.

The Mata do Sossego community (Igrapiúna, Bahia) welcomed Marcelo Rezende, Executive Director of the Ministry of Social Development and Hunger, who went there to sign partnerships and take a look at the Cooperative Alliances’ projects. Also, Sylvia Pierson, Tatiana Porto and Sérgio Costa, representatives of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex), visited Coopalm and studied the possibilities for exporting Cultiverde hearts of palm.

Fernando Santos Reis, Paulo Eduardo, Cabral Furtado and Pedro Pereira de Sá,  representatives of Foz do Brasil, exchanged information about the challenge of sustainability. Other visitors in the last three months included executives from the 3M Company and the Superintendent of the Bank of Brazil in Bahia, Eduardo Pascoal.
