The 500 members of the Bahia Southern Lowlands Heart of Palm Producers’ Cooperative (COOPALM) have plenty of reasons to be proud. On May 27, the television program Mais Você, aired on the TV Globo network, highlighted the unique quality of the Cultiverde brand heart of palm.

Presenter Ana Maria Braga reinforced that, by buying the product, consumers are both acquiring a certified and tracked heart of palm while also helping to promote the social inclusion of hundreds of families of farmers in Bahia’s Southern Lowlands.

On June 1, a news story on COOPALM, featured on the Globo Rural television network in August 2010, earned the Support Service for Micro and Small Companies (SEBRAE) Journalism Award. Under the title “Heart of Palm Cooperative: Joint Action of Small Farmers in Bahia Transforms Poor Families into a New Rural Middle Class,” the news story received the award in the category “Honorable Mention for Cinematographic Reporter.”
