Responsible for the recovery and conservation of flows of life in the Pratigi Environmental Protection Area (EPA), located in the Bahia Southern Lowlands, the Land Conservation Organization (OCT), supported by the Odebrecht Foundation, sealed an important partnership with the Regional Action Development Company (CAR), an entity associated with the Bahia State Government. The partnership will allow for the implementation of the project “Production Conservation: New Arrangements as a Strategy for Territorial Development in Sustainable Bases,” designed to provide technical support to family farmers, orienting them as to the appropriate handling of cultivations.

Lasting 36 months and with financial investments of R$ 2.3 million, the action will be initiated in March of this year and will benefit 500 families residing in the municipalities of Igrapiúna and Piraí do Norte. The proposal is to install Agroforest Systems as a strategy for promoting a local economy in sustainable bases, valuing the natural assets that exist in the territory and maintaining environmental services aggregated with the generation of work and income.
