The Odebrecht Foundation, which is celebrating 50 years in 2015, focuses on the development of youths and their families in order to create solutions in conjunction with local communities, based on their needs and capabilities. The essence of the executed actions is based on the principles, concepts and criteria of the Odebrecht Entrepreneurial Technology (TEO), which enhances human capabilities, notwithstanding the willingness to serve and the desire to evolve.

Since 2003, the Odebrecht Foundation coordinates the PDCIS – the Development and Integrated Program Growth with Sustainability . In order to promote family productive development in rural areas, the PDCIS promotes education, generation of work and income, with citizenship and respect for the environment. Just in 2014, the program’s actions involved more than 350 communities, assisting 36,000 people directly and 285,000 indirectly – the entire Population of the Southern Bahia Lowlands’ Environmental Protection Areas  mosaic. Around 50 partners and Social Investors are engaged in the assistance of more than 10 institutions.

Around 950 youths have been or are being benefited, in educational units that are part of the PDCIS’ Governance Pact, through a formation that combines theory and practice and that is focused on the reality of the countryside. On the other hand approximately 730 fish farmers, farmers and their families are organized in Strategic Cooperatives. Ten years ago, that number amounted to 160.

The farming families have access to technology and highest return of income from the production of cassava (for table flour),grocery, heart-of-palm (for canned palm) and aquaculture (for tilapia fillet production). Around 950 youths have been or are being benefited through a formation that combines theory and practice and that is focused on the reality of the countryside.

In support of the population with the interest of ensuring them the full exercise of citizenship, the Rights and Citizenship Institute performed more than 370 thousand services. Legal advice, civil documentation and actions to strengthen child protection agencies are some of the services offered by it over the years. In the environmental area, the Lands Conservation Organization enabled the conservation of 8,300 hectares, benefiting 1,000 families and recovering of 68 springs.

Besides PDCIS, the Odebrecht Foundation also coordinates two other initiatives: the Editorial Program – the editing and marketing of TEO books in three languages – and the Tribute to the Future. The Copyrights and revenues from the Editorial Program are intended to actions promoted by the Foundation. The same goes to the Tribute to the Future, which enables employees and partners to contribute through the allocation of income tax to initiatives that benefit children and adolescents.
