The Land Conservation Organization (OCT), an institution supported by the Odebrecht Foundation through the  PDCIS Program, launched a pamphlet written by small rural producers from the Bahia Southern Lowlands. “SAF-From Implementation to Model” is a good practices guide about Agroforestry Systems, a crop planting model that integrates the rural activity with the forest.

After receiving the publication, the producers – who now make up the group Farmers who Multiply Sustainable Agriculture (AMAS) – have the responsibility of taking the knowledge to their communities through visits, workshops, lectures and seminars.

For Volney Fernandes, Executive Director of OCT, the initiative creates a virtuous cycle of changes in the Pratigi Environmental Protection Area. “With AMAS, we are helping to transform a territory through the farmers, which become better managers of their properties,” said Fernandes.
