During the month of May, the Odebrecht Foundation announced the result of the 2014 campaign for the Tribute to the Future Program: over 10,000 members of the Odebrecht Group and partner companies were mobilized and contributed R$ 5.8 million through income-tax deductible contributions and donations. With the invested resources, the Odebrecht Foundation Program works through Municipal Children’s and Adolescent’s Rights Funds (FMDCA) to help transform the realities of children and adolescents by financing educational projects.
“With the significant results from the campaign last year, the children and adolescents directly benefitted by the Tribute to the Future Program will have the opportunity to access education within the context of work, developing fully as human beings and contributing toward the social transformation of their communities and future generations,” said Eduardo Odebrecht de Queiroz, Executive Chair of the Odebrecht Foundation.
Tribute to the Future contributes with initiatives such as those implemented by the Rights and Citizenship Institute, which monitors planning and public policies to guarantee that the human rights of children and adolescents are upheld. Another example is the Educational-Production Project (PEP), promoted by the Rural Family Homes, institutions that are part of the Odebrecht Foundation Governance Pact through the Bahia Southern Lowlands Environmental Protection Area Mosaic Program for Development and Growth Integrated with Sustainability (PDCIS). The Family Homes are civil associations designed to offer education geared toward the reality of the rural region and the training of rural entrepreneurial adolescents. The project currently reaches more than 4,500 people directly and indirectly.
According to Graciela Mends Ribeiro Reis, Vice Chair of Organization & Governance at the Odebrecht Foundation, the expectation for the campaign in 2015 is to increase the number of people benefitted both directly and indirectly by the program to transform the lives of children, adolescents and their families within their communities of origin. “Facing this challenge means intensifying members’ engagement with social transformation through synergistic and well coordinated actions between partners,” said Reis.
