The Mitsubishi corporation increased its support of the Southern Bahia Lowlands Environmental Protection Area Mosaic Integrated and Sustainable Development
Program (PDIS), supported by the Odebrecht Foundation. The agreement was signed on February 13.

The company, which has been a partner since 2009, will invest Us$ 1.8 million over the next three years in family homes associated with PDIS that operate in the region. The resources will be used to train new rural entrepreneurs.

On February 14, representatives from Mitsubishi, Minoru Akita, General Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility in Japan, and Kana hasegawa, the professional responsible for Corporate Social Responsibility in Brazil, visited the teaching units contemplated by the partnership. On the occasion, they interacted with some of the young students.

“I realized how the projects we are supporting are significant for Brazilian society and how they perform their function efficiently,” said Akita. For Hasegawa, it is an honor to contribute toward these actions: “We saw the youth, which are the new generation, learning with hopes and dreams,” said Hasegawa.

Mitsubishi already supported a project in Igrapiúna, Bahia. From 2009 to 2011, the company financed the training of Igrapiúna Rural Family House students to become multipliers of technologies designed for the production and processing of cacao, heart of palm, rubber and banana.
