The Odebrecht Foundation coordinated the investment of approximately R$ 50 million in projects that support context-based education, the generation of employment and income, citizenship and respect for the environment during the past year. The resources are from the Odebrecht Group, its main supporter, together with more than 50 partners and social investors.

This was the result revealed by the Performance Report – Path to Sustainability, released in May, which consolidates the main results of the institution’s three program: Tribute to the Future, Editorial Program and Program for Development and Growth Integrated with Sustainability (PDCIS). “Our priority is to develop opportunities for people to positively change their realities,” explained Eduardo Odebrecht de Queiroz, Executive Chair of the Odebrecht Foundation. “And creating these opportunities requires immediate actions, which can generate effective changes in those scenarios in which they are applied,” he said.

On Three Fronts
With the Tribute to the Future Program, the Odebrecht Foundation mobilized some 8,000 people in 2015, who contributed to social transformation in the lives of children and adolescents through donations or income tax-deductible contributions to socio-educational projects. Over R$ 4 million was raised.

Through the Editorial Program, the institution achieved the milestone of more than 60 copyrights processed. Part of this archive – the Odebrecht Entrepreneurial Technology (TEO) projects – is published and sold to more than 20 countries, helping to disseminate and add value to the Group’s entrepreneurial culture. In 2015, some R$160,000 were raised through the sale of books – revenue that was reverted to the foundation’s social programs.

With a focus on the Bahia Southern Lowlands, PDCIS promotes the development of the rural family. There are four fronts of operation, including the educational focus, and some 950 youth trained or undergoing training at the supported units – the so-called Family Houses, which offer technical courses integrated with high school. In 2015, three of them were selected by the UNESCO Associated Schools Program (PEA). They are the country’s first certified Rural Schools.

Transparency and Future
In 2015, the foundation also took important steps forward to strengthen its governance. Of special importance was the joining of the Transparency Portal of the Group of Institutes, Foundations and Companies (GIFE) and the launch and implementation of its Code of Conduct.

For Eduardo Odebrecht de Queiroz, the expectation now is to attract and mobilize partners, leveraging the technology developed and improved in the programs.”We also are working to encourage the reapplication of our actions in other places both inside and outside Brazil, promoting the development of our brand and perpetuity of our legacy,” said Queiroz.
