In February, two teaching units that are part of the Odebrecht Foundation’s PDCIS Program received the support of the country’s major banks. The project focused on Beekeeping, promoted by the Agroforest Family Home (Cfaf) in the Bahia Southern Lowlands was one of 51 proposals qualified by the 2015/16 Rural Youth Call to Tender, supported by the Banco do Brasil Foundation in partnership with the Brazilian National Economic and Social Development Bank (BNDES). ThePresidente Tancredo Neves Rural Family Home (CFR-PTN) was selected during a Banco do Nordeste (BNB) Call to Tender to earn funds through the Child and Adolescence Fund (FIA).

The achievement was directed toward the Future Rural Entrepreneur Training Project. A total of R$ 72,200 will be directed toward the Cfaf project, which will benefit beekeeping youth and students who concluded the Technical Professional Course in Forests Integrated with High School. “The investment will strengthen the economic and social autonomy of families through the production of honey and its derivatives,” explained Rita Cardoso, Director of Cfaf. For the CFR-PTN project, supported by the foundation’s Tribute to the Future Program, the financial contribution will be R$ 75,000. Endorsed by the Presidente Tancredo Neves Municipal Board for the Rights of Children and Adolescents, the initiative promotes the development of social-educational competencies and technical skills in the field.
