Presenting the concepts and spirit that drives the Bahia Southern Lowlands Environmental Protection Area Mosaic Integrated and Sustainable Development Program (PDIS), supported by the Odebrecht Foundation, for the region’s communities. This is the purpose of “PDIS Day” in the communities, which has been undertaken since March in the five municipalities that make up the Pratigi Environmental Protection Area (EPA).

Run by the Pratigi EPA Guardian Association (AGIR), the activity receives support from the other institutions tied to PDIS and the participation of youth and cooperative members, who share their experiences. “Today, my goal is to use my knowledge to help my community,” said Maria do Amparo, age 20, student of the Agroforest Family Home, during an action in the community of Lagoa Santa, in Ituberá, Bahia.

In addition to the debates, there were also seminars, lectures and practical activities for the residents, such as “Rural Days,” which addresses the cultivation of manioc, cacao and rubber tree. At the end of the actions, a plaque with the PDIS logo is displayed at different community points, such as the headquarters of community associations.
